Forty and Fabulous!!

Forty and Fabulous...and least that is what I keep telling myself as today marks my fortieth birthday. I end today thankful for the life that I have, the blessings that I have and thankful for another day on this earth. I started out the day in a downer mindset, instead of looking at the positive I chose to first start with what I consider to be wrong with where I am in my life at age 40. Certainly not where I thought I would be at 40. It isn't the number 40 that got me today, it was the reflection on my life that got me. Not being where I thought I would be, not having accomplished the things I thought I would blah, blah, blah...Thankfully, I have good friends that don't allow me to stay there for long, and it wasn't long before I was sporting a tierra and laughing hysterically to stipper music and a strip tease(no- I wasn't at a bar, and no-they did not pay for a stripper). I celebrated my birthday with my biggest blessing of all-my children. We went to Ted's for Mexican food, Happy Cino De Mayo!! and then to cheer Chandler on at his baseball game. I would not have wanted it any other way, well except if someone else had picked up the tab at Ted's, I guess that would have been nice:-) I am known to say this "it is what it is", and forty is just that "it is what it is". Bring on the forties and bring on the tierra!!

Good Luck!

Deals of the Week

Well there isn't much out there for me this week, there are some opportunities for some free toothpaste, gum, and shampoo. But the place to be is still Homeland, their sale runs thru Tuesday. My Cupboard Runneth Over

The question I get asked is "did you have to change the way you shop?" No, I did not have to, however, I have found it more beneficial to adjust how I shop. Before I began couponing, I would meal plan my weeks. Meaning each week I would come up with a meal plan for that week, then I would head out to purchase the ingredients needed to accomplish the plan. I would buy just enough snacks and food to get me thru that week. I would be in trouble if something came up and I got off track of my meal plan, usually it meant we would eat out that evening. Unfortunately, that scenario would happen about once a week. Now I purchase food items when they are on sale and that I have a coupon for. It has been freeing for me to be able to open my cupboards and ask what's for dinner? We have options now, I'm not tied down to a plan, I am still aware of what I have and try to foresee the week ahead and have a mental game plan ready. Literally, we have food running out of the cupboards and freezer!! Amen!! My freezer was so full this week that I couldn't buy anything else until we used some of what was in it. The same is true for our health and beauty needs, I had to clear a shelf out in the hallway to hold toilet paper, napkins, etc. I no longer have to pay more than a $1.00 for toothpaste, deodorant and shampoo, and it is all name brand items too. I am absolutely amazed at what the Lord has done in this area of my life...my cup and cupboard runneth over and yours can too.

March Savings a Success!!

This month I saved every receipt I had on my purchases, at the end of the month I wanted to be able to review my spending and see if I had really saved w/my coupons. I must say I am very pleased, this month I was able to stock pile deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo & conditioner, razors, paper towels, toilet paper and laundry detergent. I have so much of the above items that I will probably not have to buy them for MANY months!! Here's the final count:

OOP: $357.04
Saved: $527.22

I spent about $90.00 per week on groceries, health & beauty, paper goods, my lunches for work and even Easter candy is included!! For my first full month of really digging in my heals and doing this I'd say I did pretty great:-) So yes it is possible to save 50% on your grocery bill, and yes it was worth my time and effort to save that 50%...stay tuned for April, I hope I can do even better.

Old Navy 30% off Coupon

Thursday, March 11, 2010

And here we go...

Hi there my friends and family. As many of you know I have created this blog to be a centralized place that I can post weekly coupon deals, store deals or internet deals that I think are share worthy. Please be patient with me as this is a new experience for me and I am sure to stink it up a time or two. I am so excited about what the Lord has for me during this experience. He is already giving me visions of ministry opportunities but has yet to give me the full picture! Ha, can't imagine why he wouldn't, can you say RUN!! I am thankful for you my friends and family as I know that he will use you too to accomplish his will thru this. But, before that begins let me share with you what I have learned this far...

I have been at this for 8-10weeks now. Yes it takes some time to clip and organize my coupons. However, the pay off is the best!! I have yet to make a planned trip to the store and not saved over 50% off my total bill. And sometimes the manufacturer pays me to buy their product, whoohoo!! I understand this is not for everyone, however, I do know that it could be valuable info for the single parent, the family that has just lost an income, or the family wanting to save for their dream vacation. So keep an open mind and give it a try, what do you have to lose?

Much Love,
S
